Washington [US], March 21: The US and Jordanian militaries airdropped more food into Northern Gaza on Wednesday in a combined operation after the UN warned of an imminent famine amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
"US Central Command and the Royal Jordanian Air Force conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Northern Gaza on March 20, 2024, at 12:15 p.m. (Gaza time) to provide essential relief to civilians in Gaza affected by the ongoing conflict," the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
A US Air Force C-130 aircraft dropped 6,000 pounds of food, including rice, flour, milk, pasta and canned foods.
The United States started humanitarian airdrops into the Gaza Strip in early March. US President Joe Biden, however, said the volume of supplies to the enclave was still insufficient. He vowed that the United States would build a temporary port to deliver more humanitarian aid to Gaza.
