Copehangon [Denmark], December 24: A cargo ship has lost more than 40 containers off the Danish coast as the North Sea was battered by a storm, shipping company Maersk confirmed on Saturday evening.
The vessel, the Mayview Maersk, had reported the loss of containers on its way from Bremerhaven in Germany to Poland early on Friday
morning.
"No crew members were injured and the ship can continue to operate normally," a Maersk spokesman said. According to initial estimates, more than 40 containers went overboard. "The relevant authorities were informed of the incident." According to media reports, individual containers and cargo have already washed ashore.
Refrigerators, cannulas and shoes were found on a coastal strip in the north of Denmark, as reported by radio station DR and other outlets. Police in North Jutland warned people on X that taking the items would be persecuted as theft.
